The Full Story
I founded VitaSana Flow to share my findings in my never-ending journey to self-healing, self-love and self-actualization with the intent to inform and empower others. I take a holistic approach to wellness and health that embraces the mind, the body and the spirit.
I first turned to yoga as a consistent practice in 2014 while going through major personal life changes. Yoga became a healing and a spiritual practice where I could foster self-love and self-growth. I acquired my 200-hour yoga certification through Wendy Gross-Pinto’s Soul Sweat Asana training in 2015. I furthered my learning with various trainings and workshops, and I completed 50 hours of Yin Yoga training with Corina Benner at the Integral Yoga Institute in NYC in 2018. My classes focus on the spiritual teachings of yoga as well as the powerful emotional and physical healing powers of yoga. My fascination with Yin Yoga, led me to further study Taoism and various aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. I'm also a trained Reiki practitioner and Yoga Nidra teacher.
After dealing with a mystery illness in 2009, that led me in and out of doctors' offices, hospitals and labs and left me with many mis-diagnosis, large prescriptions of prednisone and a total lack of trust in the traditional medical system, I started taking a closer look at everything that I ate and consumed.
I always considered myself to be a pretty healthy eater. I grew up in Italy and I always valued the quality of the food I ate. However, after moving to the United States in 1996, my diet certainly changed a little, and the quality of the products I consumed changed with it.
I've also always been an emotional eater, and always found comfort and compensation in food. When I experienced stress, I always reached for food that was not nourishing.
After the illness, my goal became to become an expert in knowing the way my body felt in relation to the foods I ate. I stopped taking medications after a few months and really focused on healing naturally and allowing my body to do so on its own.
Ever since then, when I get sick or I feel any unusual pain or ache, I always try the natural way first, tweaking my diet, taking herbs and supplements and I find the doctor's office to be the very last resort.
I strongly believe we have the power to heal ourselves if we only take the time to know what our body needs and we learn to listen to it. Many times, emotional stressors are the root cause of some chronic conditions, together with diet and lifestyle. While I don't claim to cure any diseases, I strongly believe many aches and pains, together with mental fog and sluggishness are often the result of a poor diet or a diet that is simply not good for that particular body.
In 2017, I received my Integrative Nutrition Health Coach Certificate from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition and I started coaching clients shortly after. My nutrition approach encourages a gut-healthy, whole foods, plant-based diet that is good for both the body and the environment.
TRANSFORMATION AND SPIRITUAL GROWTH
Through my own journey of healing, I became inspired to share and help others get unstuck from unproductive patterns that block us from fulfilling our dharma in this lifetime. I formulated what I call the E3 Method: Embrace, Empower, Elevate, which is a three-step process to heal the shadow within by addressing each particular Samskara, or past experience that is preventing us to step into our full potential.
